Mimi
Canada
At COLLECTIBLE New York, Mimi presents a coat rack that serves as both a functional sculpture and a reflection of her transient childhood, marked by frequent moves between countries and cities. This constant relocation inspired her to explore stability through her art. Crafted from clay using only hand-coiling techniques, Mimi creates organic, tall forms with delicate walls, merging functionality with artistic expression and forming a deeply personal connection with each piece.
Mimi is a Toronto-based ceramic artist who graduated from Sheridan College with a Bachelor of Craft and Design in 2021. Currently, she instructs pottery and consults as a studio technician, while also pursuing her own artistic projects. Her work focuses on the materiality of ceramics, employing traditional hand-building techniques such as coiling and clay pinching to shape her forms. Mimi designs and creates objects that reflect a blend of technical skill and artistic vision.
