Emily Thurman presents her debut collection, “Hundō,” at COLLECTIBLE New York 2024. The collection, named after the porto-italic word for "pour out," which is the origin of "foundry," includes a lost wax bronze daybed, bronze ottoman, and translucent porcelain sconces. Each piece is crafted through a meticulous process of molding, pouring, and sculpting, reflecting Emily’s intimate and intuitive approach to design. Her work is deeply focused on the form and emotional resonance of each creation, resulting in a collection that is both sculptural and functional.
Emily Thurman is an American Designer creating a multi-facted design studio of Interior Design and Collectible Furniture and Lighting Design. The studio’s approach for interior and collectible design draws inspiration from the natural environment, experimenting with unconventional materiality and depth of color. Emily Thurman Studio approaches each project as an exploration of the way the client lives, what they deeply value, and how collectible design marries with their sense of place.
