The Netherlands

Ori Orisun Merhav, an artistic researcher and designer, with passion for materials and the stories they carry. She is a recent graduate of the Design Academy Eindhoven, where her thesis explored matter as a reflection tool of the relationship between humans and nature. Through her practice she observes ecological points of view, aiming to bring awareness to global issues and create a more ‘bio-inclusive’ future for our planet. Her process is collaborative, often brings together people from different backgrounds and minds. With an experimental and ‘hands-on’ approach her work is mostly translated into interactive experiences, installations and platforms to archive and share knowledge.

During collectible 2023 Ori Orisun Merhav is going to showcase her latest pieces of ‘Made by Insects’, with a family of objects that celebrates the new future of the lac polymer, the coating material that grew into three dimensional shapes. The objects explore the interaction between the material and light, and together they create a landscape inspired by the way the insects are forming their cocoons on tree branches.
